"I really don't know what my budget is going to get me or what things cost." Does this sound familiar to you as a planner, designer or client? How do we as event professionals help our clients to feel at ease with the large amount of money being invested into their event? This is a challenge that we all face on a daily basis especially for the first time event planner (like a bride or mom) who has no frame of reference and little to no experience. In the absence of good information decisions end up being based on a best guess, potentially misguided advice and in the worst scenario over or under valued vendor pricing. The only way to truly help clients navigate their budget and the costs associated with planning an event is to invest our time with them. Beyond the planning, creative conversations and site visits talking with clients about their budget makes them more comfortable it can (in some cases) lead to clients spending more money. - David Samdperil
